Laboratoire de muséologie et d’ingénierie de la culture (LAMIC)

LAMIC is a laboratory that specializes in experimental museology based on information and communications technology (ICT). It uses a platform of telecollaboration to explore relationships between objects, visitors, and space in the context of museums.

LAMIC sees itself as a hub of reflection and experimental research that in conjunction with museums is redefining museum practices by allowing them to choose state of the art technological equipment and providing them with the tools necessary to create museum experiences that are progressive, and better adapted and adaptable to the public.

LAMIC’s mandate is to study methods of culture transmission through the museum experience and to evaluate the effectiveness of the latest technologies in transmitting cultural content by providing students, researchers, and work station designers with specialized equipment and an experimental exhibition room (ExpoLab). LAMIC acts equally as an interface of collaboration between diverse research groups and centre of technological transfer for museums and firms specializing in museography. It responds to the urgent need for museums to adapt to the emergence of new information and communication technologies.
