Description
This workshop will be a mix of hands–on sessions, lectures, and discussion. The workshop will
explore the following topics;
· Preservation of material culture for staff or volunteers with little to no experience in the care of collections.
· Introduction to the care of collections for staff working in Aboriginal cultural centres and related organizations.
· Explore how various types of materials deteriorate, how to minimize this deterioration, and identify problems of storage.
· Examine various display techniques of artifacts.
· Learn how to make informed choices regarding the long-term preservation of collections.

Target Audience
Aboriginal cultural centre staff (or others in the community) with little to no knowledge of how to care and protect a mixed collection.
