First Person – Première Personne: The Online Journal of the Champlain Society

Have you ever found an archival letter, photograph, or other document that tells a great story, but thought it was too small for publication in a peer-reviewed journal?

First Person – Première Personne focuses on small sets of documents such as a single letter or a brief exchange of correspondence. Following the format and academic rigor pioneered by the Champlain Society, First Person – Première Personne is a peer-reviewed journal for the annotation, analysis and transcription of key documents of lasting historical significance.

It will be entirely online and freely accessible.

First Person – Première Personne is intended as a space for a wide range groups and individuals that share an interest in Canada’s documentary heritage, including family historians, graduate students and seasoned scholars. It can provide established writers a venue to highlight interesting research, or to herald a new project yet to be published. Equally, it offers graduate students an accessible avenue to write a meaningful article on a new discovery.

Entire articles are not to exceed 5 000 words. Articles on textual documents, documentary art, photography, cartography, sound and moving images are all welcome.
