Despite considerable concern about the usefulness of history on the Internet, a number of Web sites demonstrate the Internet's potential for historians. Among Canadian Web sites of note are the Great Unsolved Mysteries in Canadian History and the Atlantic Canada Portal. The former presents a number of historical "cold cases" and provides the material necessary to explore them. The latter site, launched in 2004, serves as an access point to information on Canada's Atlantic region. It includes a digital library of primary and secondary sources. The article discusses the portal's usefulness, its limitations, and the pressing issue of funding, which affects the portal and many other online sites.
