Abstract/Summary:

A case study is presented in which the authors used comic books and graphic novels to explore concepts such as war, violence, and genocide in history courses at the secondary and college levels. Particular focus is given to their use of the comic book series "Unknown Soldier" by Alberto Ponticelli and Joshua Dysart, and ways in which teachers can use graphic novels to stimulate historical discussions and examine themes of World War II.
