Abstract/Summary:

An essay is presented describing educational collaboration between university- and secondary-level history programs in the United States, particularly in regard to large-scale cuts in the federal aid grant program Teaching American History as of 2013. The positive experiences shared between the history departments of Western Michigan University and Portage Central High School are then profiled as an example of successfully fostering inter-academic cooperation without federal aid.
