24th Military History Colloquium - Spotlight on Education
From 2–5 May 2013, the Laurier Centre for Military Strategic and Disarmament Studies was proud to host the 24th Military History Colloquium at Wilfrid Laurier University. Working in partnership with the Canadian Nautical Research Society and The History Education Network, the Colloquium attracted over 150 delegates including graduate students and established scholars, primary and secondary school teachers, archivists, and members of the general public. In addition to featuring dozens of panels as well as special presentations by Dr. Roger Sarty, Professor Terry Copp, and the former head of Library and Archives Canada, Daniel J. Caron, the Colloquium offered history educators from across the country a full-day workshop on teaching military history in the classroom. The workshop was bookended with a guest lecture by National Coordinator of the Historical Thinking Project Jill Coyler.
