Opportunity for Vancouver-area Museum Educators

The History Education Network/Histoire et éducation en réseau (THEN/HiER) and its partners Canadians and their Pasts and the Museum of Vancouver are holding an Unconference on April 12, 2012 on "Museums as Sites of Historical Consciousness."

The History Education Network’s fourth book project considers the role of museums as promoters of historical consciousness. Book contributors are given three minutes to present one key idea related to their respective chapters. The audience will be encouraged to respond to these 3-minute theses during group discussions. We want you to disagree, question and give us tough criticism – in other words, help us make the book better while taking part in stimulating debates with your peers!

The Unconference is free, but you must register. It includes an optional free historical bus tour on the afternoon of April 11 with local historian John Atkin.

For more information, please see the attached flyer. The deadline for registration is March 15, 2012.
