Designating the South Saskatchewan and Saskatchewan Rivers as Canadian Heritage Rivers

Phase 2 Consultation completed. Final Legacy Document being prepared. Partners for the Saskatchewan River Basin (PFSRB) has received strong support for its nomination of both the South and Saskatchewan Rivers as Heritage Rivers. This initiative has been underway for several years with a nomination approved by the Government of Canada in 2012. The PFSRB made a draft Legacy Document available for public review and comment in July 2013. Since July, the project consultants held open houses and public meetings in a number of parks and communities along the rivers. Presentations and meetings were also held with the public, First Nations, Métis and communities in Regina, Saskatoon, Nipawin and Cumberland House.?The final Legacy Document should be tabled early in 2014, according to Susan Lamb, steering committee chair.
