#AskACurator
#AskACurator 2015 is an international Twitter campaign on September 16, to connect the public with curators and the other people who work at cultural venues. It’s open to everyone -- museums, art galleries, historic villages, etc. In 2014, 59 Canadian institutions were among the 701 sites to participate worldwide.
Questions include:
- What’s it like to be a curator?
- How do you decide what to display?
- What is the most unique object in your collection?
To participate
You may receive only a few tweets, or a lot. Most questions are posed to specific museums, and others are posed to any museums. You’re welcome to reply to these general tweets as well. Reply to tweets in batches, or real time, as they come in, whatever your schedule allows.
The event has received media coverage from Wired, Fast Company, and a variety of newspapers. We encourage you to let your local newspaper know in advance, to get extra exposure for your existing Twitter account.
