I am pleased to announce that the book 100 More Canadian Heroines: Famous and Forgotten Faces has now been published and is available at bookstores across Canada. The publication features inspiring true stories of 100 great Canadians as well as compelling historical images and a foreword by astronaut Julie Payette.

The book was launched in Victoria as Emily Carr House National Historic Site and in Ottawa at 24 Sussex Drive:

While I wrote this book and my first book in the series for the general public, the publications seem to have been recognized as useful tools for teaching women's history. The first volume was 100 Canadian Heroines: Famous and Forgotten Faces, featuring a foreword by Kim Campbell http://www.heroines.ca/about/100canadianheroines.html

You will see by the reviews that it is recommended for use in schools. For example:

"This volume is a welcome effort to make the achievements of women in Canadian history better known...A must for all Canadian secondary schools and public libraries."
Canadian Review of Materials
The Manitoba Library Association

I was pleased to discover that both of my heroines books are even being used as textbooks in an Introduction to Women's Studies course at Portage College in Alberta.

And 100 Canadian Heroines is also required reading in a course (Social History of Women in Canada) in the Department of Women's Studies & Feminist Research at the University of Western Ontario.

Since 2004, I have been managing an educational website that is visited by teachers and students as well as the general public:  heroines.ca, A Guide to Women in Canadian History. I created this as a personal project and do everything myself, at my own expense: including research, design, scanning images, writing, doing all the coding.

You will see from the website that I also give of presentations about women in Canadian history:

If you browse through the events for previous years you'll see that I've given presentations for Canadian Clubs, Girl Guides and Brownies, school classes, Newcomers, students at Heritage Fairs, University Women's Clubs, etc.
