Conservation Workshop Series

For Museum & Heritage Professionals

A series of four workshops has been developed to help improve professional knowledge, skills and practice in the area of conservation- a key museum function. These informative, two-day workshops will take place at the Ursula Surtees Regional Conservation Laboratory, a state-of-the-art facility located at the Okanagan Heritage Museum in Kelowna, BC. The series is designed to help museum professionals gain new conservation and treatment techniques as well as refresh or upgrade their existing skills and knowledge. Various professional conservators will deliver the workshops.

The first workshop in the series will cover paper and book conservation, including preservation, storage and display techniques, cleaning methods, tear repairs and other relevant topics, such as how to deal with redrot and mouldly materials.

Participants must register by August 14th, 2015 as limited space is available!

Registration cost ($60) includes lunch and snacks during the workshop.

Date: August 27th - 28th, 2015
Start time: 9:00 am
End time: 4:30 pm

Funding for this workshop series has been provided by the Federal Department of Canadian Heritage through the Museums Assistance Program.
