Monuments commemorating the lives of Vancouverites killed in WW1 occupy a prominent place in our urban cultural landscape rooting us to our history and reminding us of this monumental event. Climb aboard for an exclusive guided tour of some of Vancouver’s WW1 Commemorative Places.
 
Isaac Vanderhorst, historian and Heritage Vancouver Board member will fascinate you with stories of WW1 memorials such as the Japanese War Memorial in Stanley Park, the historic lights on the Burrard Street Bridge, the Angel of Mercy, the Cenotaph, South Memorial Park to name but a few.
 
The bus will stop for a short tour at two selected sites. One of these, the Canadian Memorial United Church and Centre for Peace, contains the only “Books of Remembrance” other than in the Peace Tower in Ottawa.We will also explore the Beatrice Lennie reliefs that frame the entrance to the former Shaughnessy hospital before the bus leaves.
