The Begbie Contest Society revises its website

The Begbie Canadian History Contest ended this year after a twenty-year run.

The Society has decided to move in a new direction. In researching suitable material to use for the contest I came across thousands of Canadian primary sources which I was not able to use at the time, and am working to put them online at begbiecontestsociety.org. Teachers looking for new and interesting primary sources will hopefully find lots here, along with many ideas for possible lessons. We hope that students will also make use of the primary sources found at the site.

We also plan to include all of the questions used in the twenty years of the contest. Like the CD-ROM featuring years 1 to 15, the new bank of questions will be searchable. Please let us know if you have any problems with the website, or suggestions for improving it.

As we are still in the process of revising the website you may have to refresh your browser from time to time to see the new content. In the next year many new topics will be added, so be sure to check back every once in a while to monitor our progress.
