Angelica is a second year PhD student at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (University of Toronto) in the Curriculum, Teaching and Learning Department. Her research interests include history and citizenship education within Canada and how that transforms into learned and practiced knowledge in the classroom. She is researching h?ow citizenship education narratives are implemented in history classes through the citizenship education framework. She would like to delve deeper into how students acquire democratic skills and attitudes in the classroom. As a teacher and educational consultant she brings vast experience to her research area.

Chris Pedersen is an M.A. student in the department of Curriculum and Pedagogy at the University of British Columbia. His focus is in history education and is associated with the Centre for Historical Consciousness. Chris is also a secondary school teacher in West Vancouver in which he teaches English literature, history and social studies. His research interests include the philosophy of history, theorizing historical distance, historical consciousness, historical thinking and theorizing pedagogy.

Cynthia Wallace-Casey is a Doctoral candidate in Education at the University of New Brunswick. She also holds a Masters degree (with a Diploma in Material Culture) from the University of New Brunswick. Her masters thesis, entitled “Providential Openings,” was a case study of women weavers in 19^th century New Brunswick, which pieced together the (then) unrecognised contribution of female home workers to the economy of rural Queens County. Cynthia has worked in the field of public history and heritage for over twenty years. She commenced her career as curator of a local community museum; has also been curator of collections at Kings Landing Historical Settlement; and was a member of the restoration team for Government House in Fredericton, where she was responsible for the development of interpretation and education programs for this national and provincial historic site. Since 2003, she has been manager of heritage education for Heritage Branch in the Province of New Brunswick. In this role, she works directly with educators and students of the province (both anglophone and francophone). She is deeply involved with heritage fairs.

David has completed 10 years as a secondary school history and social science teacher, and is now a full time PhD student in his second year at OISE/UT in the Curriculum Teaching and Learning department. David is currently a sessional instructor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT), teaching intermediate and senior history and is also an Additional Qualifications instructor in the Continuing Education Department at OISE. His research interests include student engagement in history, historical thinking and pre-service teacher training in history education.

Emily Chicorli is a MA student in the Masters of Archival Studies program in the School of Library, Archival and Information Studies at the University of British Columbia. Emily has a BA in History and Humanities, as well as a BEd from York University. She is interested in how archives can be used as educational resources in and out of the classroom. In addition, Emily is interested in how archives can engage students and youth to be critical and historical thinkers. She is working towards completing a thesis that will explore Canadian archives’ outreach programs that engage users from the elementary school level to the undergraduate level.

Mary Chaktsiris is a Ph.D. candidate in History at Queen’s University, specializing in the study of the First World War and masculinity through a case-study of the city of Toronto. She first became interested in History Education while completing her M.A. at the Ontario Institute of Studies in Education at the University of Toronto (OISE/UT). This interest has only grown through her interaction with undergraduate history students in seminars, tutorials and lecture halls. She’ll be sharing some of her experiences interacting with students and colleagues alike within her blog posts. She is particularly interested in interacting with other History educators to develop strategies and resources for teaching at post-secondary levels, and particularly for Teaching Assistants (TA’s) in History departments.
